Sandra Raine is an excellent writer. The story was written so well that I almost felt as though I was Jane, myself. Raine has a knack for describing the scene with perfect precision. Her narrative was meticulous and easy to follow. I will say that the story is very brutal and detailed as Raine depicts every aspect of the scene perfectly. I would recommend the story but if you are squeamish, this story may not be for you. Looking forward to reading other books by Sandra Raine.

Reads like it’s been written by a dyslexic pervert it’s the worst read EVER unrealistic characters no real storyline

I could have spent my time better occupied…like writing my own novel.

This book is very captivating and I couldn’t put it down. Towards the end gets so emotional. A must read

I have no idea how this book even made it to kindle. Very badly written with alot of spelling and grammar mistakes. I really pushed myself to try and finish reading but couldnt finish the book as it just seemed to ramble on and on. I am aware that this sort of thing happens in the real world but the way it was written turned the story into a lame duck. I feel the author enjoyed writing this for the gruesome and sick detail alone rather than producing a quality read, which in itself is sick and twisted.

A great read another day with no housework being done
on December 3, 2014
Very explicit and descriptive work of fiction. The end seems like a clusterf*ck of everything you least expected. Like the author didn’t fully think out the ending from the beginning. The typo’s didn’t bother me, makes me think a bit harder to put the sentences together. Two stars because I did read it. I just don’t feel like I got anything out of it. Just a slew of rape, torture, and heartbreak.

Big Disappointment….. How long is this story going to go on?????? Would have thought once Diamond found her sister everything would have been great for her and it would end her being happy. Shocker….. No End in Sight!!!!

Too much sympathy for men who did way too many horrible things. It made for an unbelievable story. That they would go from being vicious rapists to compassionate men. I feel like I wasted my brain /time reading it.

Hush captured me from the outset I covered a tangled emotions from outrage to shock to disgust it was unforgettable
however this is just a good take without any of the impact of the previous instalments . So sadly disappointing.
Just to mention there were spelling mistakes throughout including the wrong spelling if compliment/complement!!

I have been completely engrossed with this story line. As soon as starting to read, tearing myself away is impossible
on 30 July 2016
Horrible book. The grammar, sentence layouts and choice of words is appalling. I had to stop reading after the first couple of pages when the writer described in great detail about paedophilia. Despicable. I’d give it no stars if it were an option!
on August 26, 2017
I love this book and the whole series, next to the crank series I have to say this is my new favorite author iv read them all in the past few months just got the newest one Blood can’t wait to start it, I can’t believe all these bad rratings ppl have given I can’t believe that English teacher personally if you are reading a book and know how to read past 7th grade Grammer shouldn’t matter! It only matters how the story makes you feel and all I want to do is find out what’s next, I giv my husband updates after each chapter! Keep it up Sandra Raine can’t wait for the next book

I chose this as 5 starts because I truely enjoyed this book. There was things I liked and disliked of course. But what I liked so far better than what I didn’t like. It was fast paced in reading in my opinion which is good. I loved the drama lol I guess that’s why someone would read a book like this tho right. I love the characters and how Sandra Raine put all if not most of their point of views in here to see all sides of the story it’s great and that’s what I love the most. Tho I can say if you are sinstive to prostitution, gangs, or any type of crime you shouldn’t read this or any of here other books for they are not pretty and not happy go lucky books all tho you can see some happiness if you like at the gray and not the black and white of it. I can’t wait for the books to come and look forward to them
on September 2, 2017
I am so in love with these books! Can’t wait for the next to come out. Seriously never a dull moment. If your just glancing at this book and trying to decide if you want to read it, you definitely do but start from the beginning, they are all amazing. I also love how the author goes back and refreshes your memory of the characters.

i really enjoyed it but thought it would be a longer read. The first one was brilliant even though it was quite cruel but could not stop reading. The only thing i did not like about hushed was that i wanted to read more.
on 19 December 2014
These books are terrible. Terrible plot, appallingly written (I mean, really appalling) – yet somehow weirdly compelling as I found myself parting with actual money for them. No one to blame but myself for that. Hence the one star. I don’t quite know how she did it. Will it buy the next trashy installment? Probably. But only ever on my kindle so no one can see what I’m reading.
on October 3, 2017
very gripping, cant put down book
on March 1, 2017
The words hold deep pain of the human tragedy of human trafficking, but deep hope for eventual freedom for the victims. Highly recommended!
on January 24, 2015
I refused to rate the first book ‘Hush’ as there is no allowance for zero or negative stars..and in my opinion even those would’ve been nice. The spelling and grammatical errors were so HORRENDOUS it was impossible to enjoy the book. Not to mention the author’s need to include every sick act that she could remember, invent or regurgitate in such detail that it seemed forced almost manic.
This second book makes a for an easier read. The author must have gotten spell check and decided to leave the readers to use our imagination instead of drowning us in unnecessary details.
The premise of the story is great. Too bad it wasn’t written by a decent author. ***Save yourself a few hours you won’t get back..imagine the worst that could happen to children in the hands of pedophiles…now you know the story.***

from DiamonDs:

This a a great series. Only thing about it is we get really into the book and it ends on a cliffhanger and I have to wait months for the next part. Ugh!
on August 31, 2016
It pains me to say this but I didn’t care for this book! It was a much to do about nothing! I loved the other books in the series however I felt this one was filler and just another away to make more money!
Now about the story I did not care for the fact that 2 gay for pay guys go from hustlers to ruthless gang members in a blink of an eye just not very believable Or that it appears Jane will become another statistic living the life she tried so hard to get out of!
on January 30, 2017
I have enjoyed all the books so far but the frustrating thing in these books is the editing or lack of editing of the words to and too which are not used in the correct context.

HUSH vs. HUSH: Revised

HUSH original book coverAs HUSH was coming to its final chapter I began struggling with – well not necessarily “struggling“ as I had a pretty damn good idea of the ending I was aiming for – whether to end HUSH with its original ending or with an alternate ending that would leave the story open for a sequel or even perhaps a series?  It was after had I realized what a strenuous story HUSH was to write, due to its graphic nature, had I settled with the original ending as I had no plan on pushing forward.  So in the end HUSH became a stand-alone novel.

original HUSH cover—–^

When I first began pitching (querying) HUSH to Lit Agents, which was somewhere between 2009-2010, had I made a crucial decision to omit some parts and clean-up the story a bit as to not offend Agents with additional graphic scenes and language.  I also decided to do away with the original ending and use the alternate ending in case an Agent offered representation and I could offer a sequel or a series in return.

Though I did garnish some interest with a couple of Agents requesting that I tone down the book (to which I had already done prior to querying), I denied the requests as I felt anything further omitted would only take away from the parable.

hush-series-hush-downAfter 64 unsuccessful queries – minus a few successful ones – or in layman`s term “a shitload of rejections“, and having no success on finding HUSH a permanent home in the Big 5 Publishing Houses, in 2013 I ventured into the underworld of “Self-publishing“ and published the manuscript`s query version of HUSH with revised cover.

In the four years of HUSH`s inception, HUSH has underwent four revisions, meaning, I either added to the story, omitted from the story or touched it up some.

Now four years later, and with HUSH`s growing popularity and maintaining as a Top 10 and Top 50 Best Seller, and to the Fans who didn`t care for a series, I decided to publish HUSH:  Revised, professionally edited with its original ending, and to include all that was omitted prior to querying – thus lengthening the story – for example:

hush__cover_for_kindle-2_LI (2)The prologue.

Missing scene & dialogue from the Frat party.

Missing dialogue throughout the book including some missing scenes.

Missing sex scene between Jane & Henry Church.

Missing scene and dialogue of Dominic preparing Jane`s escape.

… just to name a few.

I don`t know if there is anyone as excited as I am to see where this revised edition of HUSH will go or as concerned if reading where it all started and where it all ends will even make a difference?

Either way, I`m sure it`ll all be goodEmoji girl!

HUSH between Nicole D’Settēmi & Devlin De La Chapa

A while back I posted a review response to So, why didn`t I leave HUSH as … which omitted the reviewer responsible/or the reviewer who inspired my post as I was in lieu of awaiting a response from her in which I received a “Thumbs up“ for some time ago. I would contemplate “my bad“ for not posting a.s.a.p. but life does happen and time does get away from you.

So without further ado, here is the addendum to that post highlighted above. Also, the review contains some **major spoiler alerts**.  So if you haven`t read HUSH it may spoil it for you.

it was amazing
Read from January 11 to April 15, 2017 , read count: 1

** spoiler alert ** A Review by Nicole S. Aviles
“Hush” by Sandra Raine

Yes, as noted on numerous occasions – Ms. De La Chappa/Raine needs an editing team. However, she also needs to stop taking advice from her readers in totality, because as far as the storyline–it was great, and the other 2 parts fall short do to said-advice-taking–and it’s obvious.
I honestly wish she never penned any of the others. This one was a page-gripping, jaw-dropping, bold tale.
Book 1 worked because she went with her gut, she wrote a story of a young woman enslaved to a bizarre vile family, and the shocking yet likely outcome of something like that. It was graphic, real, raw and troubling.
The book begins with a young, naive, “quiet beauty” of sorts, getting entangled with a sister and brother duo, which is where the trouble begins. Her so-called girl-“friend” Tanya, provides the narrator with a glimmer of hope in becoming a popular girl, by befriending and hanging out with her regularly, something she never expected or predicted would happen. The thrill of being friends with the popular crew causes our poor, passive “Jane” into sleeping with Dominic–Tanya’s brother. She begins spending her every waking moment with them, in an upper-crest home, with all three from wealthy parents. Jane has never questioned how her family generates so much, regarding physical reality, nor Tanya’s parents, until everything takes a turn in a very unlikely direction. Jane, whom sleeps with Dominic nearly every day for 2-3 weeks straight, is coerced into a world she never believed possible–or that even really existed in the first place. Dominic and Tanya invite her to a frat party, where all hell breaks loose. Jane is forced to sleep with three different men after being roofied, and it doesn’t stop there. The horrific rape is just the beginning of sordid tale, of a handful of corrupt families who would sell their own children up the river for a few bucks.
Much to Jane’s dismay, being gang-banged and raped isn’t the only horror. After she is brutally raped and photographed in a car, with Tanya the photographer, she is blackmailed by the three of them, who force her into a sex-slave ring. Dominic becomes her main “pimp” and abuses her in every way plausible, until he starts falling in love with Jane.
What we are given hints of throughout the novel, is that Jane isn’t just another “plain Jane.” Jane is actually special. Very special. In the worst way possible. And when the sex slave ring spins out of control, we are shown the master of the ring, much to our horror–her very own father!
The book has punctuation and grammatical issues, as noted, but the story-telling is very good. It’s impressive and ballsy, especially for an independent author to publish. The storie’s ending is probably the most troubling area for most, as it leaves us shipwrecked with no savior. No happy ending, only a fraction of a glimmer of hope. Yet, an ending like this is exactly what makes a book most memorable.

Great read.

Greetings, Nicole:

Hope all is well.

I just wanted to extend my appreciation for your Ratings and the Review you gave to HUSH under my Goodreads profile “Devlin De La Chapa“.

True, I should not listen to the readers however, I already had a sequel in mind for HUSH but it was nothing definite as I was waiting to see HUSH’s outcome with the readers. And though I respect your opinion, I’ve also come to understand that I, as a writer, am not going to please everybody with what they’d like or what they would have liked. So I do apologize if I am being a bit stubborn.

The whole purpose of taking HUSH and making it into a series is because one: the story had/has so much potential for growth. And secondly, I wanted to take Jane aka DiamonD beyond the norm of just becoming another statistic and leaving her story to die in HUSH, but rather give her new life through a series of “what if`s“ in spite of the approaching outcome that will either leave readers and fans cheering for Jane or tossing their books and Kindles against the wall.

Either way, Nicole, I do hope you will continue to read the series and continue with your Ratings and Reviews – good or bad, I will gladly accept them. But if you choose not to, then that’s understandable.

Take care, Lady …

Sincerely,
Devlin De La Chapa
writing as “Sandra Raine“
